Unlike western counterparts, african art has just hardly any artwork that conveys the personal stamps of their own artists. Sculptures were created to honor ancestors, kings and gods. Elaborate masks were made to be worn on joyous occasions. Beads, trinkets and jewellery were mostly utilized to signify prosperity, adolescence, marriage, or private jurisdiction.
